Womens Churidar
A churidar is an ethnic attire worn by women in India and also some other Asian countries. Churidars basically enhance the beauty of the legs. What is special about the churidar is that they are longer than the legs. Their extremes are crinkled and crumpled to fit thus developing the creases. It is tight fitting at the hips, thighs and ankles. Inspite of churidar suit having body hugging salwar which is tightly gripped to the body, it is still comfortable to wear and is slightly narrow at the ankle area. The appeal of the attire lies in the amount of flexibility it has. Owing to their popularity and ethnic look, churidars are available for several occasions.
Churidars are tight fitting trousers worn by both men and women. Churidars are worn with a kameez by women and with a kurta by men. A churidar can be worn with long as well as short kameez and kurtas. If you want to really look chic, you can wear the churidar with a slightly loose, short knee length kammez without a dupatta and to complete that beautiful look, wear some matching jewelry and footwear.
Churidars are available in different fabrics such as, silk, cotton, georgettes, prints, raw silk etc. and if you really want too dazzle, you can find them in rich designs and heavy embroidery. Also different cuts are given to churidars, of which the straight cut is now in vogue, with fewer folds or without folds, with the length just up to the ankle. The shape gives it the very feminine look to it. During the 19th century women wore churidar with a bodice and transparent overskirt, and kathak dancers still wear churidar with a wide skirt and tight bodice.
These days churidar is most popular among young women considering it as an easy alternative to saree, since it is easy to wear yet modest and also very versatile when jumping into crowded buses and trains. Some drape the dupatta around the shoulders while others over their head. Churidar kurtas look exceptionally elegant on a woman and looks very effective with a kurta that ends at the knees or just above with matching high heels making her look a lot slimmer, younger, and taller. Young modern girls generally choose Indo western style with a touch of Indian tradition. A churidar along with a familiar top kurta or kameez is a very decent dress and provides unique comfort and style.
