Welcome to Clothing Plazza

Clothing is worn for comfort, modesty and also to reflect religious, cultural and social meaning. The most significant feature of clothing is to protect the body from dangers of the environment, such as; sunlight, extreme heat or cold, and also insects and various other hazards. For different people around the globe, clothes have become one of the most crucial parts of a person’s appearance. Common clothing materials include: cotton, silk, wool, satin, flax, nylon, leather, fur etc.

There are different ways of using clothing or making the most efficient use of the textile. One approach is simply draping; like many people, for example the dhoti for men, the sari for women, the Scottish kilt and the Japanese sarong. Either these clothes are simply tied up or held with pins or belts. Another approach is cutting and sewing the cloth. In many societies people of high rank reserve special items of clothing for themselves as a symbol of their social status. In current Western society only the rich can afford haute couture. If one is not wearing a particular or style of clothing their status can fall. Some clothing indicates the modesty of the wearer. For example Muslim women wear a head or a body covering that proclaims their status as a respectable woman in society. A western woman might wear close fitting, body revealing, flashy jewelry and make-up that indicate a flirtatious intention. Modesty varies radically from culture to culture and a person may choose to display a mixed message with his or her clothing.

Special clothing is worn during sports and physical activities mainly for comfort and safety reasons. Common sports garments include shorts, T-shirts, tennis shirts, track suits and trainers.  Wet suits are used for swimming, diving, and surfing. Most kind of clothing is designed to be ironed before they are worn so as to remove wrinkles. Some clothing is wrinkle free and does not ironing. Since from the outside sun, dirt and other indignities affect clothing, extra care need to be taken to maintain clothes. Today clothing is considered a consumable item. Mass manufactured clothing is less expensive and many people prefer to buy a new piece of clothing rather than to spend time mending old clothes. As western media penetrate in all parts of the world, western fashion has become international fashion, and only on special occasions do people wear their national dress.
